As a part of the Skills Development Program, the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources is pleased to announce the following training at Jigme Wangchuck Power Training Institute (JWPTI), Sarpang:
Tiles Laying: This short course is intended to focus on acquisition and integration of wide range of Tile Laying to the candidates in context of construction sector of Bhutan. Upon completion of this course, the candidates are expected to acquire knowledge, skill and practical aspect in area of tile laying. Through this course, the individual is expected to demonstrate high level of competency in fulfilling the requirement of industry.
Plastering: After completing this training, participants will be able to: • Gain insight into the Mason Tiling job role and its career progression: – General introduction to job role, role of a Mason Tiling in construction industry along with the future possible career development provisions. • Lay and fix tiles both horizontally & vertically on wall and floor: -Selection and use of tools for measuring, marking, cutting, laying and fixing tiles as per standard procedure • Apply grouts and sealants for flooring and cladding works: -Selection and use of different tools, equipment, grouts and sealants for sealing joints and finishing of flooring and cladding works. • Work effectively in a team to deliver desired results at the workplace :- Organised working procedure within a team at site • Plan and organize work to meet expected outcomes :- Prioritizing activities and organising resources to meet desired outcome.
Construction Carpentry: This course is designed to provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes of an individual to become competent as Construction carpenter in accordance with industry standards. Upon completion of this course the candidates will be able to work in the construction industry where they can perform construction services such as: performing wood work, constructing and removing formwork and scaffolding, carrying out ceiling, flooring, partition and staircase construction work, constructing doors, windows and shutters, performing roofing work and performing repair and maintenance of civil works. The course will also prepare the candidates to comply with regulatory and organizational requirements for practicing Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
Mason This course shows you how to perform the tasks essential to masonry, including the spreading of mortar, furrowing, buttering and bricklaying. Masonry involves the building of structures from individual units and this course teaches you how to use basic masonry units like clay bricks, concrete blocks and stone to complete constructions.
Plumbing: This Plumbing Technology course is ideally suited for persons who wish to learn how to install and maintain plumbing systems as well as tradesmen involved in the construction industry. This course provides the opportunity for participants to install and maintain simple systems of hot and cold water supply; drain, waste and ventilation systems through a combination of lectures and laboratory workshop sessions.
Welding: A Welding Skills Training course are primarily targeted to those individuals that are looking to brush up on their knowledge or get a basic understanding of the skill for their hobby. They make great refresher courses as well.
Mechanical Fitters: Mechanical Fitters work with metal pieces to create products and machines. The role requires assessing the suitability of materials for different purposes, fitting metal parts into machines, checking the performance of equipment, repairing faults and implementing controls for machinery. Most Mechanical Fitters work with heavy machinery and are required to use tools to create a required part or product from metal.
Wooden Furniture Design and Making: By the end of the course, you will have a thorough understanding of the different workshop processes, and a finished piece of furniture (a coffee table with drawer) that shows how you have applied these processes to your project. Candidates will also leave with the confidence to develop your skills and apply your knowledge to further furniture and woodwork projects
In this course Candidates will work according to personal health, safety and environment protocol at construction site: -Importance of Health & Safety aspects & measures to be followed while working.
In addition, after the completion of the course, all individuals are required to attend 2 weeks of Basic Entrepreneurship Course (BEC)
